Sherri Player lives the adage “if it’s not done right….it’s not done”.
She has built an impressive reputation for excellence from her crew and her customers since she landed in the home renovation/building field as a teenager. And in doing so has become a remarkable role model for young adults, especially girls looking to enter male-dominated fields.
At 15, Sherri left home to live life on her terms. Within a year she had dropped out of high school and worked with an at-risk youth program…and found her passion. Sherri learned frame carpentry while building single family homes. She quickly earned the respect of her male counter-parts and expanded her talents and knowledge base through the Women into Trades and Technology (WHIT) program at Mohawk College where she developed skills in custom cabinet-making, electrical, plumbing, drafting, and HVAC. Eventually working in Toronto to learn dry walling and painting to her repertoire of talents through on the job training.
By the time Sherri reached her early twenties, she recognized the importance of an education and achieved her secondary school diploma….and ultimately graduated from Fanshawe College as a Mechanical Engineer.
Over the next decade, Sherri worked in the automotive sector as a Manufacturing Engineer, managing the maintenance and service requirements for a large automotive company with 17 acres “under the roof”. With the aptitude for precision and detail, she caught the attention of head hunters and accepted a position with another company where she developed maintenance programs and equipment reliability improvements – but the passion she discovered in her younger years was missing. Sherri knew it was time to leave “home” once again and launched Details Renovations.
Sherri saw that there was a huge gap between “handyman” services and large expensive renovation companies. Details Renovations fills that niche by offering high quality, cost effective solutions.
